New Video Consultation with FaceTime or WhatsApp

11.11.2020 in HAIR LOSS HEALTH NEWS, TRICHOLOGIST

The Hair Loss Centre’s New Video Consultation with FaceTime or WhatsApp gives our Consultant Trichologist all of the information required to diagnose your hair loss problem immediately on the day.

We can recommend an effective course of treatments for home use straight away. These will be delivered to your front door with future check-up appointments to monitor your progress and recovery.

The consultation process is very thorough and may take up to 1 hour. During the consultation all aspects of your hair and scalp problem will be discussed at length to determine the correct diagnosis of your particular condition.

The Consultant Trichologist will explain the nature of your disorder, give specific advice, answer all of your questions, and if you are indeed treatable, we will recommend a treatment regime, with advice on expected response and recovery time. We will write to your GP requesting certain blood tests for further investigation if necessary.

The Hair Loss Centre is able to prescribe treatments for home use. Treatments can be purchased for use at home if desired.

Treatments are not recommended unless the Consultant Trichologist feels it is necessary or beneficial. The Hair Loss Centre conforms rigidly to a strong ethical code.

Female Hair Loss – Hanna’s Story

In December 2017 I found out I was expecting my first child .I was over the moon , but with raging hormones and the stress of managing my diabetes I noticed my hair was falling out . Every doctor and midwife I spoke to assured me it was completely normal and not to worry , however, myself and my mum wanted to get a professional opinion. My mum found the hair centre online and we went for a consultation.

Gary pretty much diagnosed me as soon as I walked in the door . I’m so glad I met Gary when I did as he caught my diagnosis just in time before it was too late . I’m glad I didn’t trust the other drs for I would be bald by now ! He put me on a course of treatment and now my hair is better than ever .

As well as being professional, Gary and his receptionist Olivia are lovely caring people and it’s been a pleasure to visit them for my check ups .

I was in a really low place when my hair started falling out .  Seeing clumps of hair on my pillow and in the bath was soul destroying and with friends and family telling me ‘ it’s not that bad ‘ it just made me feel worse.

Now with my hair growing back stronger and thicker I feel so much better and it’s lovely to receive compliments about my hair .  I can’t thank Gary enough for what he has done . There is nothing worse for a lady than feeling ‘un pretty’ . Gary saved my hair and made me feel pretty again . I’m so lucky to have met him when I did . Thank you Gary for giving me my confidence back and giving me the most beautiful head of hair !

Hanna

These are examination follow up photos taken from February 2017 to October 2017. Priya is 42 and was suffering from Severe Telogen Effluvium and Severe Alopecia areata. She started treatment with us in late November 2016 and the first photo is the early signs of recovery in February 2017. The whole process of staging a full recovery took about a year. Priya was not the model patient and only managed check ups on a 2 monthly basis, but she never missed a treatment at home. We advised her to use out Vitastim amd Biostim treatments on a daily basis in conjunction with a Follicle Builder treatment every second day. You can see the results. We are pleased to report that her hair is now completely back to normal and she does not require any further treatments.

For you information:

Severe Alopecia Areata is an extremely common condition and will affect 1% to 2% of the population at some point in their lives. Most sufferers are children and young adults (below 40 years old), although it can affect people of all ages. The hair loss is sudden and manifests itself in small, smooth-skinned patches that are likely to gradually widen with time. It can also affect the sufferer’s nails, giving them a pitted, ridged or brittle appearance. The exact cause is still unknown, although current theories include an auto-immune disease, stress or suggest a genetic basis.

Severe Telogen Effluvium occurs when the growing phase of the hair is interrupted prematurely causing the hair follicles to enter the telogen (resting) phase of the hair cycle earlier than normal. Two to four months later, following the normal cyclic pattern, diffuse shedding of the hair begins. When this happens there are not enough hairs left in the anagen phase, or growing phase, and the result is therefore diffuse thinning of the hair. Telogen effluvium can be triggered by anaemia.

Androgenetic alopecia (female pattern baldness) in women is often linked to hormonal changes with the hair loss following events such as the menopause, childbirth or as a result of stopping or starting oral contraceptive pills. The hair loss is generally more uniform over the scalp than in the male counterpart, but also results from a complex chemical reaction when the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase converts the testosterone in the system into DHT or dihydrotestosterone. The hair follicles are genetically predisposed to be over sensitive to the DHT and become smaller and smaller with time, leading to the eventual hair loss.
