Rogaine hair loss remedy wants to be part of daily male grooming.

The new marketing strategy by Rogaine is aiming to reposition the hair loss remedy as an everyday bathroom essential such as toothpaste, says the New York Times.

After a breakout year in 2007 on higher sales of a new mousse-like version meant to be used twice a day, the campaign, whose tag line is “Use it or lose it”, attempts to encourage younger men to start using Rogaine before hair loss occurs.

“Your daily grooming routine probably already includes brushing, shaving, maybe more,” says Rogaine’s web site. “Take a look at what adding just a few minutes more with Men’s Rogaine Foam can do.”

Mousse

A good option for adding volume. Can be used on wet hair for a sleek, shiny wet look or dry hair to help you shape and sculpt with a more natural finish.

Top Tips

Always shake the bottle first.
Rub a small amount between your hands and ruffle it evenly through your hair.

Style

However you like and leave to dry or use a hairdryer for firmer hold.
Don’t scrimp on price – cheaper brands can leave your hair feeling sticky.
Do experiment with different brands for the best effects.

Gel

The old favourite. Ideal for styling, moulding and keeping your hair in place all day long.

Top Tips

Rub the gel into towel dry hair using both hands

Style

For firm hold, use a hair dryer or for a glossier look, leave it to nature.
Good quality gels can moisturise and condition your hair, while bad ones can dry it out. Choose wisely!

Wax

Perfect for the messy look but also good for other short and medium length styles. The waxy substance lets you mould, shape and create texture, while conditioning and adding shine.

Top Tips

Rub a small amount between your fingers until soft.
Work it evenly through the hair you’re going to mould, from root to tip .

Style

Don’t use too much – it can easily leave you looking like a greaseball.

Hairspray

Not just for old ladies. Use it for styling on wet hair or to hold dry hair in place. It can also make your hair appear thicker and add shine.

Top Tips

Shake the bottle or canister.
Spray it evenly over your hair.
If using it on wet hair, you can choose whether or not to blow dry.
Some sprays can stink so choose a less pungent variety
Don’t use too much or it’ll make your hair look crunchy and dry.

Use your head

Different brands give different results so if one doesn’t work for you, don’t rule out that product completely. Keep experimenting until you find something that works. A good hairdresser should be able to provide some expert advice and they might even be willing to give you a hands on demonstration.

I believe I have the condition Acne necrotica millaris.

15.01.2008 in TRICHOLOGIST

Hi,

I believe I have the condition Acne necrotica millaris as I have acne on my scalp which is very sore. They are more like big pimples that are sore when you touch them. My wife said she has noticed that they are leaving scars on the scalp which is very worrying. Sometimes the scalp is fine other times I get a breakout which last for sometime.

I looked on your website which was a breathe of fresh air because it very hard to find anything on the internet regarding this condition. My doctor prescribed me dalicin/tetracycline which worked but when I stopped in came back.

What do you advise. My face and body is fine it’s just my scalp.

I saw the below products which you recommend for the condition.

How much are they and how do I purchase.

No.2 – Salictlic Acid and Cade Oil Scalp Cream

No.4 – Shampoo with Juniper Oil for Dandruff

No.11 – Lotion with Glycerine for Irritated Scalps

I really need to get rid of this as it drives me crazy 🙁

Thanks for your time.

Colin

This condition is recognised by pustules along the front hairline typically, although they can also occur elsewhere on the upper body. The pustules may be slightly painful and are often pruritic or itchy. When they involve the scalp the pustules may leave small patches of cicatricial (permanent) scarring as they have a central necrosis, which can destroy the hair follicle. This condition is considered to be of an unknown origin, although stress is often incriminated in precipitating occurrences.
